Savannah Wedding Band with Horns
Savannah is where this band works most. Nine players, three horns and four vocalists, playing receptions in the historic district, corporate events on Hutchinson Island, and private parties across Chatham County.
What a Savannah reception usually needs
Savannah runs two very different kinds of events and the band plays both. Downtown weddings tend toward historic houses, courtyards and the squares, where the room is beautiful and the space is tight. Corporate work skews toward the convention center and the bigger hotel ballrooms, where the stage is already built and an AV company is already on site.
Those two situations ask for different things from a band. A courtyard reception needs a group that can read the room and keep volume under control without losing the energy. A ballroom needs a band that can fill a large room and hold a crowd that has been sitting through speeches.
Space and sound
Nine players with a horn section need real estate. If your venue has a fixed stage, send the dimensions when you inquire and we will tell you straight away whether it works or what we would change. If there is no stage, a flat floor area is usually fine, but the footprint still matters.
Most Savannah venues either provide sound or have a preferred AV company. That is the easiest case and it is what the booking form asks about first. If sound is not provided, say so and we will work it out before anything is signed rather than on the day.
Getting in and out
Historic district load in is its own skill. Narrow streets, limited loading zones, long carries from wherever the van can legally sit, and squares that cannot be driven across. A nine piece carries more gear than a four piece, so load in time is worth confirming with your venue coordinator early.
Outdoor receptions downtown also tend to have an end time attached, whether from the venue or the city. Worth knowing the cutoff before the timeline gets built, because a band plays very differently across four hours than three.
The set
189 songs in the book, across Motown and classic soul, R&B and funk, disco, classic rock, current pop, standards, and the first dance songs a reception needs. Requests outside the list can usually be learned with enough notice.
